Motorola 68060 CPU Performance tests will calculate only 40 MIPS for the 68060 CPU. Cause: The superscalar architecture of the MC68060 CPU can not be used by most of the benchmark programs, because the programs are using test loops, that cannot be dispatched to the two integer units of the CPU. Since only one integer unit is used, the resulting MIPS value is roughly half of the possible value. Solution: Use a benchmark program that can make use of the superscalar mode of the MC68060 CPU. One, that is known to work with the superscalar mode is the program mips, available on Aminet.
